Abstract of the presentation:
Jim De Piante got tricked into becoming a youth soccer coach. Though relatively inexperienced as a player, for 14 years he was extraordinarily successful as a youth soccer coach because of his ability to lead teams.
Jim joined IBM as a software engineer after serving as a flight crewman in the US Navy and after graduating summa cum laude from the University of Florida in Computer Information Systems.
He has led development projects in hardware, software, architecture, and eBusiness development, having done work for the IBM Product Divisions, IBM Global Services and ibm.com. He has recently returned to the US from an assignment in IBM Italy. He is presently managing the Jeopardy Challenge project for IBM Research.
Jim is an internationally acclaimed project management practitioner, trainer and speaker. He is an Executive Project manager who holds IBM's highest PM certification, that of Executive Level Manager. Jim is also certified as an intermediate youth soccer coach and regional youth soccer referee.
On Thursday, he will tell us about his experiences as a youth soccer coach and leader.
