Abstract of the presentation:
Ron Hadley is Head Talent Management, Novartis Development in East Hanover, NJ and has broad HR experience in Talent Management, Leadership Development, Talent Acquisition, and Business Partnering. Prior positions include Executive Director of Talent Management at Wyeth and Head of US Staffing at BASF Corp.

Ron serves on the Board of Directions for Beyond the Wall, a non-profit serving the needs of the poor in the developing world. He has also provided leadership consulting for a variety of non-profits and taught at Caldwell College.

Ron received his BA in Psychology from the University of Connecticut. In addition, he has an MA in Education from Michigan State University and an MA in HR Management from the University of New Haven.

NOTES FROM THE CALL:
Jim De Piante got tricked into becoming a youth soccer coach. Though relatively inexperienced as a player, for 14 years he was extraordinarily successful as a youth soccer coach because of his ability to lead teams. Jim joined IBM as a software engineer after serving as a flight crewman in the US Navy and after graduating summa cum laude from the University of Florida in Computer Information Systems. He has led development projects in hardware, software, architecture, and eBusiness development, having done work for the IBM Product Divisions, IBM Global Services and ibm.com. He has recently returned to the US from an assignment in IBM Italy. He is presently managing the Jeopardy Challenge project for IBM Research. Jim is an internationally acclaimed project management practitioner, trainer and speaker. He is an Executive Project manager who holds IBM's highest PM certification, that of Executive Level Manager. Jim is also certified as an intermediate youth soccer coach and regional youth soccer referee. On Thursday, he will tell us about his experiences as a youth soccer coach and leader.

The PMP examination is now based on version 4 of the Guide to the Product Management Book of Knowledge (PMBoK). This month’s PMP Study call focuses on the Project Communications Management knowledge area as laid out in PMBOK version 4. There are changes in this area. Dana Safford, PMP, will provide insight and practical examples of everything you need to know to building your critical knowledge mass and pass the PMP exam on the first attempt.

PRESENTERS BIO:
Rob Hochenberger has more than twenty years experience in a wide range of IT positions including project management, business analysis and software development. For the past five years Rob has been a project manager for a data warehouse/business intelligence initiative for Chubb Insurance.

Rob's experience spans the Insurance, Pharmaceutical and Telecom industries and includes project management experience in a broad variety of settings. Rob has successfully managed project teams in both small and complex organizations. His experience includes successfully coordinating the efforts of individuals from a wide range of business and technical backgrounds where the ability to successfully influence project outcomes is critical to project success.

With the ever growing demands on organizations, getting results from project teams is becoming more and more imperative. Being able to successfully exercise influence across project teams and the organization is an increasingly important skill for the successful project manager. Yet growing your influencing skills is an area that does not get the focus it deserves in literature and training. On Thursday night, Rob will share with us a common sense approach for understanding how to improve your influencing skills in a variety of situations.

PRESENTERS BIO:
David Anderson is an accomplished Project Management Professional with extensive experience providing IT services worldwide. He has worked in diverse business environments, including the Educational Testing Service, Interpool LTD, (a multi-national intermodal transportation company,) The Franklin Mint, C N A Insurance, Infomed (a home health care system provider), The City of Philadelphia, and The State of New Jersey.

While working at The Educational Testing Service, he directed the Y2k renovation of all legacy systems and provided maintenance services for software on a variety of platforms, using technical resources in five locations on three different continents. He also led the effort to engineer an automated documentation tool for legacy systems, selected software engineering tools for use in the Y2k effort, and built a database to support disability accommodations for the major ETS testing programs.

At Interpool, he served as a database administrator, Quality Assurance Manager, and finally, Director of Programming. He directed the development of software and hardware infrastructure that allowed Interpool, a multi-national company with limited resources, to use its data collection and verification processes as a competitive advantage in the very competitive market for container leasing.

Mr. Anderson has a BA in English from Rutgers New Brunswick, and an MBA from Rider University. He holds the PMP designation, as well as the MCP and CPCU designations. He lives with his wife Hope in Pennington, New Jersey. They have a daughter Caroline in graduate school and a son, David, who is a junior in college.
